New Age Spirituality – Morning Has Been All Night Coming ( Part 93 )

As soon as He stopped speaking, the entire scenery around us shimmered and disappeared. In a split second we were back in the offices of G&M Enterprises, Inc. It seemed as if we had never left. We were even sitting in the same positions as before. It certainly was exciting being with God – strange, but exciting.
“Lord,” I said, “I’ve been waiting these many years to ask You questions of tremendous importance to me. Yet, when I’m in Your Presence, the questions don’t seem all that important. Everything seems to be just fine when I am near You.”
“Then why don’t you practice being near me more often? Why can’t you be near me whenever you want? I am always close to you,” He said.
“I haven’t gone to church in quite a while, Lord. I usually miss a few Sundays each month. I guess I’ll go more often now.”
“I, myself, haven’t gone recently,” He said. “I think I’ll have to drop by some of them to see what they’re up to.”
I almost fell off my chair. I thought that perhaps I hadn’t heard Him correctly. But I remained quiet as He continued.”It’s not that I don’t like some aspects of church. The music is usually good and I do enjoy the singing. But think of it,John, century after century of listening to the same thing. Preachers shouting doom and gloom from their pulpits. Congregations being threatened into believing ridiculous arguments about me and my intentions. Each group, sect or denomination claiming to know the right way. Imagine listening to what is called ‘The Lord’s Prayer’ hundreds of millions of times a week. Only once in a while do I hear someone say it with feelings. All the rest is just noise and meaningless babble. The same goes for the entire worship situation.
